Asian clam

Origin:

Southern Asia, Africa, Mediterranean Sea

Identification:

Color ranges from yellow to dark brown with a white hinge. The entire shell is covered in concentric ridges.

Impacts:
These clams can clog municipal, industrial and agricultural water intakes. As filter feeders they limit food available to juvenile fish.
Range Expansion:

Asian clams are spread by human transport and natural downstream spread.
