Sylvan Lake Campground

Rich in history and natural beauty, Sylvan Lake holds the designation as Custer State Park's crown Jewel. The lake was created in 1881 when Theodore Reder built a dam across Sunday Gulch. In 1921, this unique lake became a part of the newly-created Custer State Park.

Restrictions / Closures
Due to low and narrow road tunnels on Highway 87 (Needles Highway), large RV's and trucks should use Highway 89. The junction of Highway16A and Highway 89 is located on the east side of the City of Custer, SD.
Sites are close together and are not good for large tents or large RV's.
